Message: When the need you see with your eyes is far bigger than the resources you have in your hands
Reading: Mark 6:35-44 New International Version (NIV)
35 By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. 36 Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
37 But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages[a]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?” 38 “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.”
When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”
39 Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42 They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
During part 15, we looked at the power of sharing resources equitably and we saw that when this is done, even the little you have – God will step in and multiply. This is a powerful teaching for all of u as we get ready to move into our new season and with construction of what will become our ministry centre. Many times, when what we have is not enough, there will be the temptation to hold back, keep to yourself, share to your family or just focus on what looks like many needs that you truly have. However, by doing so, you limit God’s power in your life.
On the contrary, releasing what you have got and putting it in the hands of God, connects you to heavenly resources. You will notice that even after the five thousand people had eaten, twelve basketful of broken pieces of bread and fish were left behind.
If you keep what you have got – which is not sufficient anyway for your needs, you will miss the opportunity of helping others and being left with extra. Within CREM Ministry, we have been witness to the power of multiplication whenever God’s people put what they have in God’s hands. We have been able to do very effective ministry for the last 23 years thanks to the generosity of each one of us. I believe God is calling us to step and keep this spirit of sacrifice. The sacrifice of those that went ahead of us has brought this ministry to where it b is today. The sacrifice of the current generation is what will sustain the vision of the ministry in the new season we are entering into.
As we do this, I believe that God is going to multiply what we have got. We will be a ministry with influence being used by God to bring glory to His name. This place we are dedicating this week – CREM Land will become a centre through which families will be transformed. When they counted the mean that had been fed, the number was five thousand… This is what is going to happen over this place we are setting to dedicate. Thousands of people will stream in and be healed, transformed, empowered and their destiny changed forever. That is why we need to step up and sacrifice and develop the place with excellence. The very best that we can afford – we need to step in and make it possible here at CREM Land.
It is true we have our own very big needs and when we look at what we have got – it is just not enough – just like the situation that Jesus faced with the disciples and for this reason, we are going to believe God for multiplication amongst every CREM Member that steps up in faith. This is the faith that we have – if you have the same faith join with us and come let us meet God on June 1st.
