Reading: Mark 6:35-44 New International Version (NIV)
Yesterday we saw that it’s in remote places where God’s power is best demonstrated. We saw that God’s miracle of multiplication happens to those that choose to do what no one else is willing to do. Today I would like us to look the next statement that the disciples made – “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late.
The disciples acknowledged that not only was the place remote, but it had also got very late that day. As we serve God and walk in obedience, there are times when it appears like it’s too late for God to do anything or come through. It is true – the meeting had gone too late and the disciples acknowledged that but what they forgot is that God is the creator and is not limited by time. There are times, when we wait on God and it looks like it is now too late for Him to do anything, but this morning I was getting encouraged – it is never too late for Him to accomplish His purpose in your life.
This morning – you may be experiencing delay in a particular area of your life – something has taken longer to happen than you had expected – I have a word for you – God is not limited to time. Just remain calm, trust Him, keep working and surely you will experience His miraculous power.
The enemy uses such moments to cause worry – The disciples in this case were worried that it was getting late and wanted to take some action. The action they wanted to take was not bad at all – to send the people away, but what didn’t do was to consult Jesus. Whenever you experience delay, the enemy would like to get you focused on finding solutions but the miraculous comes when you seek God’s will for the situation. When you give God a chance to lead even in such times.
Many of you will remember I got married at the age of 30 – July 29th 2000. I must confess there were times when I had very interesting conversations with my late mum. She would take advantage of the times I went visiting her at home to politely ask me when I planned to bring a daughter in law home. She was worried that I had over stayed and worse still – every time I came home, I never seemed to have any girl around me who looked like the one. So as a mother she was concerned. She worried that I was too busy in ministry to find a wife and I must say there were times when I asked myself hard questions. The truth is by my late 20’s I didn’t have any girl in my life. I remember spending a whole night of prayer December 31st 1998 talking to God about this – shortly after that God send a girl who would later become my wife – God is faithful. I am sure there are many other testimonies like this – so be encouraged and take it to the Lord in prayer and most important TRUST and Just Obey – for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Are you experiencing delay? Hold on to God. Do not try and solve the problem yourself – allow God into the situation.
